Income Tax Returns Preparation
For several years, Community Care has partnered with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency to present a free Community Volunteer Income Tax program in the spring. The service is designed to help people get their income tax returns submitted on time, and keeps them compliant with government records.
The Community Care income tax return program relies upon many volunteers who give their time to assist with the completion of forms. The volunteers are trained and will assist clients who are in low income brackets (less than $25,000 annual income for individuals, less than $35,000 for households). Appointments are made through the Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls or Lindsay offices of Community Care. Volunteers meet with the clients, then complete the returns on the clients behalf and Community Care submits the information. Clients wishing to use the service must bring all relevant information and forms, including T4 slips and statements of property tax or rental payments.
For the 2012 tax season, Community Care volunteers in Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls and Lindsay offices completed 648 returns for local residents.
Due to volume that is traditionally experienced with this program, clients wishing to have their returns done by Community Care must book an appointment by contacting the agency to schedule a time for meeting with the volunteer. Clients are asked to respect the fact that many other appointments will be scheduled before and after them, so punctuality is appreciated!
