Volunteers – lifeblood of the organization

To recognize their important roles, Community Care maintains in-house programs for volunteer training and support, and holds regular volunteer appreciation and promotion events. In 2012, we were pleased to have 44 of our volunteers receive Ontario Volunteer Service Awards from the province, saluting more than 405 collective years of service. Each year, our agency relies upon the contributions of more than 800 volunteers who help in the many different services and programs that Community Care offers.

Community Care Health & Support Services offers many opportunities to get involved for individuals interested in becoming part of our volunteer team. If you enjoy helping others, you may want to join our ranks of more than 800 volunteers providing service to seniors and people with special needs across the City of Kawartha Lakes. Working With People

If you enjoy helping others, you may want to join our ranks of more than 800 volunteers providing service to seniors and people with special needs across the City of Kawartha Lakes. Consider the following current volunteer opportunities:

Helping Out at the Office

Office volunteers provide support in many valuable ways: by answering the telephone and assisting with clerical tasks such as photocopying, data entry, preparing mailings and information collection. We will gladly work around your schedule and preferences – even just an hour of your time on a regular basis is valuable to us!

Fundraising

Raising much-needed financial support of our programs is vital to the work of Community Care. Our Fundraising and Special Events Committee meets regularly to plan and develop fundraising initiatives. Volunteers are also welcomed for specific events and projects, such as our annual initiatives or Tag Day fundraising.

Committees

In addition to our Board of Directors, there are several standing committees of the agency that operate on a regular, year-round basis. Most committees are comprised of a mix of staff and volunteer from the community, who meet on a regular basis to give consideration to matters that pertain to the agency, plan upcoming initiatives, and provide recommendations and direction that are consistent with the agency’s mission and goals.

Standing committees include:

  • Fundraising & Special Events
  • Human Resources
  • Public Relations
